Righteous

Went to London and Barcelona for a week.

Came back.

Got awesome hat.

Saw the following movies:
- Max Payne (sucks)
- James Bond: Quantum of Solace (ok)
- Just Like Heaven (apart from Jon Heder, painful)
- Låt den rätte komma in (ok)

New games:
- Fallout 3 (very good)
- Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (awesome)
- Red Alert 3 (this url: David Hasselhoff)

New Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex) is pretty good so far.

The LG Viewty sucks because it can’t handle the interactive answering machine everybody seem to love installing nowadays. Or maybe it can, but it still sucks because it’s not intuitive enough for me to find out. Needs new phone.

Current state of affairs: Not awesome.

Excellent

I haven’t been able to do anything ever since the last exam. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve become sick of everything or that I’m just plain lazy. Either way, I don’t like it. It is not a good position to be in. All I’ve managed to do so far is to install Arch Linux on both the new laptop and the desktop computer in my room in Oslo. Also, Ubuntu on my parents’ media center. XD (I’ve become such a geek.)

I got a new Wii back from service. It happened pretty quick too, within a few days. Finally finished The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (it was friggin’ awesome). I also managed to find copies of Super Paper Mario and Super Mario Galaxy on sale. I ordered the latter one some days after the former but got it first (stupid shop). At least I’ll keep myself entertained this summer.

A month back I managed to brick my N80 with some Hotmags. I was playing with them while waiting for Team Fortress 2 to load and put them down next to the phone. An hour or two later, it stopped responding. So now I’m on the lookout for a new mobile. Current contenders: HTC Touch Diamond, … I’ll probably add some more later.

Otherwise, both my sisters are in Europe. One in Norway, the other in the UK. Girlfriend is in the US, and most of my friends are not in Oslo. Yup.

PS. Job seeking sucks.

Ubuntu 8.04 Release Candidate

I couldn’t wait.

Today, I re-installed my Linux-partition with Hardy Heron. Downloaded the alternate cd and did a command-line installation before apt-getting ubuntu-desktop. The first notable change is that it no longer crashes when I set my harddrives to AHCI in the BIOS. I can finally utilize the full potential of my drives, which is a good thing.  GIMP has become a part of the ubuntu-desktop package, so I can no longer remove it without having to remove the meta-package as well. Although this doesn’t really matter much, I don’t like it. I hate GIMP. The sound was muted after the installation. I don’t know why, and it’s not really that big of a deal, but it took a while to find the volume controller. The desktop looks somewhat refreshed but still has the brown look many people dislike. Otherwise, I haven’t played around with it long enough to write anything more extensive. If they’ve fixed the nasty memory leak caused by Nautilus, I’m more than satisfied with this release.

Now, where’s my Windows XP Service Pack 3?
