Regrets

After being introduced to Glee today, I’ve realized how much fun I should have had during my younger days. Soon to be 26, engaged and working, I have lived little.

Stuff I should’ve done while I had the chance:

  • Be more creative
  • Play in a band
  • Travel more
  • Join a glee club

I think high schools in Norway do little to encourage people to engage in extracurricular activities. There are no activity clubs, and the schools are so small that outcasts really are outcasts and not some clique with peculiar interests.

Of course, that shouldn’t have prevented me from doing any of these things during my uni years. After five and a half years of my life, what do I have to show for it?

  • A bachelor’s degree
  • A master’s degree
  • A fiancé
  • Mediocre skills in first-person shooters
  • A refined taste for RPGs
  • A respectable collection of pink links

Meh~

Harajuku

Whilst walking through Youngstorget last Sunday, I met a bunch of cosplayers hanging around the fountain. I overheard some of them talking about losing the game. I don’t know what’s worse: That they’re probably hanging out every Sunday like the kids in Harajuku (though the quality over there is way better), or the fact that I recognized more than half of the characters AND understood their lingo.

By the way, YOU just lost the game.

Superman

As fate would have it, my house is full of troubles.

Went to the US a few weeks back to visit my grandparents. It was supposed to be fun, and it was quite fun until we came back. A few weeks before this trip, my fiancé stayed here with me and … actually, I’d rather not talk about this here.

Life aside, The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition is great. Meanwhile, Tales of Monkey Island is off to a pretty good start. Pre-ordered the whole thing in order to get my hands on those collector’s DVD. Man, I’m a sucker for them. As if my life needs more things in it. Probably why I went and got myself a PSP as well. Not really impressed with the screen; it has problems with interlacing and it’s somewhat blurry. Not quite what I expected after all the bashing on the DS. Sure things look better on it, but from the impression I got, it should’ve been a hell lot better.

Considering a new phone. Current phone sucks.

Got an offer at work I could not refuse. Missed out on it because of work policy. Sucks.

Moving

We’re finally selling our old apartment. 25 years of memories, soon becoming distant.

You can find the prospect here.

By the way

Got my MA officially on Thursday. There were much rejoicing.

Eh…

Work is so so, but that is to be expected when you start pretty much from scratch. I’ll get somewhere, soon. I hope. Still waiting for a date to prepare for my thesis defense.

I have been neglecting a lot of my friends lately, not that I have so many in the first place. Note to self: Call friends.

Been satisfying my materialistic desires:
- Apple Keyboard (the one with anodized aluminum, cabled)
- Fallout 3 (yes, it is awesome)
- new monitor (full HD with component and HDMI, sweet!!)

Windows 7 (though beta) is awesome (so far).

The new Seagate 7200.12 hard drives are THIN (even the sales dude was awesomized).

Mother’s day this week. Got gift last week. Well prepared.

Valentine’s day next week. Need gift. May prove too difficult to handle.

GPS

First work day at Atea (formerly Ementor). Got wicked awesome laptop and new phone.

Acquired new games over axe-mas:
- Left 4 Dead
- The Witcher Enhanced Version

Both are awesome games.

All grown up

Got engaged.

Curry

So yeah, the trip to Budapest last week was pretty cool. It was kind of like Prague, only … cozier, and a lot warmer. We arrived at the airport to 32 degrees Celsius! Getting back to Norway, and Trondheim, was pretty nice as well. The last few weeks has been hectic and it’s nice to finally being back in the tranquility of my dorm room.

I’ve finally decided to order Mass Effect. I might need to upgrade my graphics card as well but decided against it because of upcoming graphics chips. Hopefully, the older models will get cheaper (or maybe the new models are cheap enough for me to grab one).

Finally found this clip after seeing it on a Japanese TV show two years ago:

I couldn’t get the second song (at 2:14) out of my head for quite some time. Browsing the related clips, I eventually arrived at this clip:

In other news, I’ve just received a job offer from Ementor. The contract is on its way, but the offer seems promising enough.

Music

It’s raining.

In an effort to keep myself somewhat updated in the music world, I am frustrated by how many new artists out there that I’ve never heard of. Dashboard Confessional, The Kooks, MGMT… how come I haven’t heard of these earlier?

A trip to Prague lasted from the 6th till yesterday. It was fun, though I didn’t get to see much of the city itself. The grown-ups spent most of their time in the Viet markets they found there. The markets are an exact copy of how markets generally are in Viet Nam. It’s almost uncanny. I probably missed out on half of the things I wanted to see because of that.
